First of all, welcome to my website! I decided to start this site after I completed my first official undub – Star Ocean: First Departure for the PSP.I know many people (including me) have been waiting for one to be done since it was released in North America a few months ago.

I myself tried to undub the game soon after it’s release, as I have been waiting for this game since it was announced in Japan, but had exams soon after and was forced to drop what I was working on.Some others have tried to undub this game as well, but dropped it too. The main reason (I think) being that most of the files use tri-Ace’s SLZ compression, which information on is scarce. Furthermore, the main binary is horrible. There are over ten thousand files in there and many of them are duplicated, and sometimes duplicated in SLZ archives – meaning that this was no easy task and took a lot of time to complete.As for Second Evolution, please have a bit more patience, as I’ll get started on that as soon as I finish playing First Departure. The engines for both games are the same, so the files are the same, so it shouldn’t take me as long =DAnyways, on to the undub itself. You can get it if you around a bit (sorry, my host is kinda strict on torrents and file sharing).

Read on below for details about the undub.The English voice acting in this game isn’t too bad, but sometimes, specifically during battles, the it’s just disgusting. I myself am usually only interested in undubs when the English voice acting is considerably worse than the Japanese voice acting, which in this case it is.Everything – the dialogue, battle audio, and movies, has been completely undubbed. From what I have played so far, everything runs smoothly. Sometimes, however, the translation doesn’t match up with the audio quite well and you’ll get some extra text without any audio. This occurs rarely though and isn’t much of a problem at all (just thought I’d inform you of it in case you’d think the audio is missing).Here’s another video with Ronyx and Illia (warning: spoilers):I have only played the game by choosing Cyuss and Ioshua (no secret characters), and have skipped my of the Personal Actions (PA’s), so I can’t say there’s no chance of any problems.In fact, later in the game, during the second visit to the Purgatorium and also the Space-Time Laboratory, my game would sometimes freeze during battles.

I changed the files a bit so that they were more correct and haven’t had any problems since, but there is no guarantee that it can’t happen to you (it only occurred sometimes, and seemingly random, for me), so make sure you save often. I recommend using cwcheat and enabling the Save Anywhere cheat and frequently saving to a single save file while in a dungeon in case the game crashes (not really considered cheating since you’re just preventing the possibility of losing loads of exp and fol due to a crash).Again, I haven’t had any problems since that little fix (I’ve gone from level 50 to 70 since), so don’t worry about it too much and just enjoy the game!
